This Is A Good Fitting Bra

How do you know if your bra is fitting good or bad?  We always talk about a bad fitting bra and how to fix the problems, but this time I am going talk about a good fitting bra.

1.  The underwire should go around the under part of your breast.  The wire should never poke or stab into your breast (cup too small).

2.  The middle part between the cups should lay flat against your rib cage between your breast.

3.  There should be no wrinkles or gaps in the cup.  The cups should encase your breast perfectly.  Your breast should not be bulging out from under your arms or from the middle front of the cups (cups too small).

4.  Your band should be snug and supportive when fastened in the loosest row of hooks, when new.  Your band should never move up or shift as you are moving around (band too big).

You can find more about this topic in The Ultimate Bra Fitting Guide.

Click on this link to go bra shopping.

Did you know that you may wear 6 or more different bra sizes during your lifetime?

Any time you loose or gain weight, your bra size will change.  Changes in you body can be caused by:

  • illnesses
  • bad eating habits
  • hormones/hormone therapy
  • menopause
  • pregnancies
  • nursing
  • birth control
  • medications
  • stress
  • exercise
  • no exercise

Look at it this way, if your clothes size changes, your bra size will change, also.

How Do I Know If I Am Wearing The Wrong Size Bra?

Here are a few questions I would like you to answer.

  1. Does your band ride up in the back?
  2. Do your bra straps slip off of your shoulders?
  3. Is your band too tight?
  4. Are your straps digging into your shoulders causing marks, grooves, and bruises?
  5. Is there wrinkling and empty space in your cups?
  6. Are your breast spilling out over the top and sides of your cups?
  7. Is your wire poking you?
  8. Is your wire causing you pain?
  9. Have you gained 10 pounds or more?
  10. Have you lost 10 pounds or more?
  11. Are you wearing a bra that gives no lift or support?

If you answered yes to any or many of these questions, you are wearing the wrong size, style or both.

Now here are the questions with the solutions.

  1. Does your band ride up in the back? ( You need a smaller band size. )
  2. Do your bra straps slip off of your shoulders? ( You may need a different style and/or a smaller band size. )
  3. Is your band too tight? ( You need and bigger band size or a bigger cup size. )
  4. Are your straps digging into your shoulders? ( You need a smaller band size. )
  5. Is there wrinkling and empty spaces in your cups? ( You need a smaller cup size and/or a different style. )
  6. Are your breast spilling out over the top and sides of your cups? ( You need a bigger cup size, sometimes 2 cup sizes bigger.)
  7. Is your wire poking you?  Is your wire causing you pain? ( Sometimes you need to change the band size, the cup size, and the style. )
  8. Have you gained or lost 10 pounds or more? ( At this point your band size, cup size, and style has changed. )
  9. Are you wearing a bra that gives no lift or support? ( You need a smaller band size. )
